Chapter 5 – The Prediction
The Rajawat haveli was filled with the sound of wedding preparations when the family priest, Kul Purohit Ji, arrived.
He was the Rajawat family's traditional purohit and had been associated with the family for generations.
Everyone respectfully welcomed him.
Aravind: "Purohit Ji, please come inside."
Kul Purohit Ji smiled and entered the haveli.
Shreya was brought before him.
He blessed her and placed his hand gently over her head.
Kul Purohit Ji: "Sada sukhi raho, beta. Bhagwan tumhe hamesha khush rakhein."
Shreya smiled and touched his feet.
He then looked through the wedding details and confirmed the auspicious wedding timing.
Kul Purohit Ji: "The muhurat is at 9:15 in the evening. Everything should be completed according to the rituals before that."
Everyone nodded.
After speaking with the family, his eyes suddenly fell on Veeresh.
Veeresh was standing slightly away from everyone, his arms folded and his expression unreadable.
The priest studied him for a moment.
Kul Purohit Ji: "Veeresh beta."
Veeresh looked at him.
Veeresh: "Ji?"
The priest smiled gently.
Kul Purohit Ji: "Control your anger."
Veeresh's eyebrows furrowed.
Kul Purohit Ji continued.
Kul Purohit Ji: "And learn to see people with a broader perspective. Not everyone is the same, beta."
Veeresh remained silent.
The priest looked at him carefully.
Kul Purohit Ji: "You have built walls around yourself. But life will not allow you to remain behind those walls forever."
Nobody spoke.
Kul Purohit Ji smiled.
Kul Purohit Ji: "You will soon get married."
Veeresh's expression immediately hardened.
Kul Purohit Ji: "And that woman will change you."
Veeresh looked unconvinced.
Kul Purohit Ji continued calmly.
Kul Purohit Ji: "Even after you trouble her, even after your anger hurts her, she will still stand beside you."
Kamala exchanged a glance with Gayathri.
Aravind remained silent, listening carefully.
Kul Purohit Ji: "You will be blessed with children too."
Veeresh said nothing.
The priest then turned his attention toward Poornima.
He smiled warmly at her.
Kul Purohit Ji: "Saubhagyavati bhava, beta."
Poornima immediately folded her hands respectfully.
Poornima: "Dhanyavaad, Purohit Ji."
The priest blessed her once more.
Aravind, Gayathri and Kamala looked at each other.
They had all noticed the way the priest had looked at Poornima.
But Veeresh remained completely expressionless.
He simply turned around.
Veeresh: "I don't believe in all this shit."
Everyone became silent.
Veeresh walked toward the staircase.
Kamala: "Veeresh..."
He didn't stop.
Veeresh: "I'm going to my room."
He walked upstairs without looking back.
The priest watched him disappear.
Kul Purohit Ji only smiled.
Aravind: "Purohit Ji..."
The priest looked at him.
Kul Purohit Ji: "Don't worry, Aravind ji."
He smiled knowingly.
Kul Purohit Ji: "Some things in life are written before we even understand them."
Poornima, who had been quietly standing nearby, heard his words but didn't think much of them.
She had no idea that the man's prediction would soon become part of her own life.
And upstairs, Veeresh had already dismissed the entire conversation from his mind.
For him, love was a lie.
Marriage was an arrangement.
Forever was a word people used until they found something better.
He didn't believe in destiny.
But destiny had already begun moving.
