Chapter 6 – What Was Written
That evening, after the wedding preparations had settled down for a while, Aravind, Gayathri, and Kamala went to Kul Purohit Ji's house.
The three of them had been thinking about his words since morning.
Especially Aravind.
The moment they entered, the purohit ji welcomed them and offered them a place to sit.
Aravind looked at him seriously.
Aravind: "Purohit Ji, why did you say those things about Veeresh this morning?"
Kul Purohit Ji looked at him calmly.
Kul Purohit Ji: "What exactly is troubling you, Aravind ji?"
Aravind: "You said Veeresh would get married soon. You said his wife would stay beside him even after he hurt her. And you said she would change him."
Gayathri looked at the priest.
Gayathri: "We know Veeresh. He doesn't trust people anymore. He has become very distant."
Kamala's eyes became emotional.
Kamala: "He wasn't like this before."
The purohit ji nodded.
Kul Purohit Ji: "I know."
He looked at Aravind.
Kul Purohit Ji: "Your brother's son has been hurt deeply."
Aravind lowered his eyes.
Kul Purohit Ji continued.
Kul Purohit Ji: "He lost people he trusted. Somewhere along the way, he stopped believing that anyone could stay without wanting something from him."
Kamala sighed.
Kamala: "That's exactly how he is."
Kul Purohit Ji: "That is why he has built walls around himself."
He paused.
Kul Purohit Ji: "But those walls will not remain forever."
Gayathri looked at him hopefully.
Gayathri: "Because of Poornima?"
The priest smiled.
Kul Purohit Ji: "Yes."
The three looked at him.
Kul Purohit Ji: "Your daughter will bring everything back into his life."
Aravind remained silent.
Kul Purohit Ji: "She will bring back the emotions he has buried. She will remind him that love does not always come with conditions."
Kamala's eyes filled with tears.
Kamala: "But Veeresh can be very difficult."
The priest smiled.
Kul Purohit Ji: "I know."
He looked at them.
Kul Purohit Ji: "Even after being hurt by him, she will have the patience to understand him."
Gayathri looked surprised.
Gayathri: "You mean he will hurt her?"
Kul Purohit Ji: "He may hurt her with his words, his anger, and his distance. But she will slowly understand the pain behind his behaviour."
He paused before adding softly,
Kul Purohit Ji: "And she will not give up on him easily."
Aravind looked down thoughtfully.
Kul Purohit Ji: "They are each other's other half, beta."
The words left everyone silent.
Kul Purohit Ji smiled.
Kul Purohit Ji: "Veeresh will change."
Kamala: "Will he really?"
Kul Purohit Ji: "Yes."
He looked toward the setting sun outside his window.
Kul Purohit Ji: "Not because someone forces him to change."
He smiled.
Kul Purohit Ji: "He will change because, for the first time, he will meet someone who makes him want to."
Gayathri held Aravind's hand.
Kul Purohit Ji: "Their love will grow slowly. It will not happen in one day."
He looked at them.
Kul Purohit Ji: "There will be misunderstandings. There will be pain. There will be moments when they will question each other."
Then he smiled peacefully.
Kul Purohit Ji: "But in the end, they will understand why they were brought into each other's lives."
Aravind remained quiet for a long moment.
He thought about his brother Rajendra.
And then about the little boy he had raised like his own son.
Aravind: "I only want Veeresh to be happy."
Kul Purohit Ji nodded.
Kul Purohit Ji: "Then let life take its course."
The three of them left the purohit ji's house with many thoughts in their minds.
None of them knew how difficult the road ahead would be.
And none of them knew that the two people the priest had spoken about were already under the same roof.
