Chapter 11 – The Papers
That night, the Rajawat haveli had become quiet.
Most of the family had already gone to sleep after a long day of wedding preparations.
Poornima was sitting in her room, still thinking about everything that had happened that morning.
Marriage.
Germany.
A new life.
She was lost in her thoughts when there was a knock on the door.
Before she could answer, the door opened.
Veeresh walked inside.
He was holding a file in his hand.
Poornima looked at him.
Poornima: "Veeresh?"
He walked toward her and placed the file on the table.
Veeresh: "Sign these."
Poornima looked at the papers.
Poornima: "What are they?"
Veeresh: "Marriage documents and papers I need for your visa."
She picked them up and started reading.
Her eyes stopped at the name written on one of the forms.
Poornima Veeresh Singh Rajawat.
She stared at it for a few seconds.
Poornima: "Is this necessary?"
Veeresh: "Yes."
Poornima looked at him.
Veeresh: "I need to apply for everything now. I can't keep coming back here."
Poornima remained silent.
Veeresh: "Sign quickly."
She looked at the papers again.
Poornima: "You're really planning everything already?"
Veeresh: "I told you. Right after the wedding, we're leaving for Germany."
His tone was firm.
Veeresh: "There will be no excuses later."
Poornima looked at him quietly.
She didn't argue.
She picked up the pen and signed the documents.
Veeresh waited without saying anything.
Once she finished, he took the papers from her.
He checked the signatures carefully and placed everything back inside the file.
Veeresh: "Good."
Poornima simply nodded.
Veeresh looked at her.
Veeresh: "I don't like nodding."
Poornima looked up.
Veeresh: "And I don't like 'hmm'."
She remained silent.
Veeresh: "If I ask you something, speak properly."
Poornima stared at him for a moment.
Poornima: "Okay."
Veeresh nodded.
He picked up the file.
Veeresh: "Good night."
Poornima: "Good night."
He turned around and walked out.
The door closed behind him.
Poornima looked down at her hand.
Then her eyes returned to the place where the name was written.
Poornima Veeresh Singh Rajawat.
She whispered to herself,
Poornima: "My life is really changing..."
She sat quietly on the bed, wondering how a marriage that had begun as a simple family decision could possibly become a real relationship.
And somewhere down the corridor, Veeresh was already thinking about Germany, his business, and everything he needed to arrange before their wedding.
Neither of them realized how much their carefully planned lives were about to change.
