Chapter 29 – When He Wasn’t Ready
After everyone left, Poornima began cleaning the penthouse.
She collected the plates, packed the leftover food, washed the dishes, and made sure the kitchen was spotless again.
Once everything was done, she switched off the lights in the dining area and went toward the bedroom.
As she entered, she noticed Veeresh standing alone on the balcony.
He was looking at the city in silence.
Poornima walked toward him and stood beside him.
For a few moments, neither of them spoke.
Then she looked at him.
Poornima: "Veer..."
He glanced at her.
Poornima: "You know... if you ever wish to share anything with me, you can."
Veeresh looked back toward the city.
He was quiet for a while.
Veeresh: "I wish I could."
Poornima waited.
Veeresh: "But I'm not ready."
There was no coldness in his voice this time.
Only honesty.
Poornima understood.
She gently placed her hand over his.
Poornima: "It's okay."
Veeresh looked at her.
Poornima smiled softly.
Poornima: "Don't worry. You don't have to tell me anything before you're ready."
He stared at her for a moment.
Veeresh: "You don't want to know?"
Poornima: "Of course I want to know."
She smiled.
Poornima: "But I want you to tell me because you trust me, not because I keep asking."
Veeresh's eyes softened.
He looked down at their hands.
For once, he didn't pull away.
He simply let her hand remain over his.
Poornima: "Take your time, Veer."
He looked at her again.
She was still smiling.
Veeresh gave her a small smile in return.
Neither of them said anything after that.
They simply stood together on the balcony, watching the lights of the city.
For Veeresh, it was the first time someone had offered him patience without demanding an explanation.
And for Poornima, it was enough to know that someday, when he was ready, he might finally tell her everything.
