Chapter 40 – Thank You, Poons
Veeresh finally stepped out of Olivia's room.
Poornima was still sitting in the waiting area, quietly waiting for him.
The moment she saw him, she stood up.
Poornima: "Veer?"
He walked toward her and sat beside her.
Poornima looked at his face carefully.
Poornima: "Are you okay?"
Veeresh looked at her for a few seconds.
He didn't answer immediately.
Instead, he gently held her face and kissed her.
Poornima was surprised for a moment, but then she kissed him back.
When they pulled apart, Veeresh kept looking at her.
Veeresh: "Thank you."
Poornima smiled softly.
Poornima: "For what?"
Veeresh: "For not making fun of me."
Her expression immediately softened.
Poornima: "Why would I make fun of you?"
Veeresh looked down.
Veeresh: "Because I lost control."
Poornima gently held his hand.
Poornima: "You didn't lose anything."
She smiled.
Poornima: "You were struggling, Veer. That's different."
He looked at her.
Poornima: "And I meant what I said. You don't have to hide everything from me."
Veeresh squeezed her hand.
Veeresh: "I'm trying."
Poornima: "I know."
She leaned her head against his shoulder.
Poornima: "Let's go home."
Veeresh nodded.
Veeresh: "Yes, Poons."
For the first time in years, Veeresh walked out of the clinic feeling lighter—not because everything was suddenly fixed, but because he knew he had someone beside him who wasn't afraid of his difficult moments.
