Chapter 14 — Welcomed Into the Family

The conversation continued warmly between the two families.

Rehnaa smiled at Rukmini and explained one of their family traditions.

Rehnaa: Rukmini ji, there is something we follow in our family. The groom sends a saree and bangles to the bride before the wedding.

Rukmini listened with a smile.

Rehnaa: It is our way of saying that she is already accepted and welcomed into our family. Arnav himself will come and give them to Ritika.

She smiled.

Rehnaa: Ritika will wear the saree and bangles for the wedding.

Rukmini: That is beautiful. We are very happy to hear that.

Devraj nodded appreciatively.

Devraj: Then I will send you the possible wedding dates. You can choose whichever date works best for your family.

Abhram: Alright, Devraj ji. Send them to us. We will discuss everything and let you know.

After exchanging their goodbyes, Devraj and Rukmini left the Qureshi mansion.

They got into their car and began their journey home.

For a few moments, neither of them spoke.

Then Rukmini looked at Devraj with a soft smile.

Rukmini: Our daughter will be happy.

Devraj glanced at her.

Rukmini: I truly believe she will be loved there. I could see the values in that family.

She looked out of the window thoughtfully.

Rukmini: They have become so wealthy and successful, but they haven't forgotten their traditions or the importance of family.

Devraj nodded.

Devraj: Yes. I noticed that too.

Rukmini: And the way they spoke about Rishi...

Devraj smiled.

Devraj: That was important.

Rukmini: I just want Ritika to have a peaceful life.

Devraj reached for her hand.

Devraj: She will.

He paused before speaking firmly.

Devraj: But remember one thing. No matter where she goes, no matter whose wife she becomes, she will always be our daughter.

Rukmini smiled.

Devraj: If anything ever goes wrong, she will always have us.

Rukmini squeezed his hand.

Rukmini: Always.

The car continued toward home as both of them silently hoped that their daughter was finally walking toward the happiness she deserved.
