Chapter 47 — Rishi's Dream

At the Singh mansion, Ritika was resting in her room when Rishi came running inside with a few sheets of paper in his hands.

Rishi: Baba! Look!

Arnav, who was sitting nearby, turned toward him.

Arnav: What happened, champ?

Rishi proudly opened the first sheet.

It was a drawing of a fighter aircraft.

Rishi: When I grow up, I want to become a fighter pilot, Baba.

He showed Arnav another drawing.

Rishi: Look, I drew this plane too.

Arnav took the papers carefully and looked at each drawing.

A small smile appeared on his face.

Arnav: It's beautiful, champ.

Rishi smiled proudly.

Arnav: And if you want to become a fighter pilot, you can.

Rishi: Really?

Arnav: Really.

He tapped the drawing gently.

Arnav: You draw beautifully.

Rishi: Baba, I'll fly a fighter plane.

Arnav: Then you'll have to study hard.

Rishi nodded seriously.

Rishi: I will.

Ritika watched them from the other side of the room, smiling.

Ritika: What are you both discussing so seriously?

Rishi quickly held up his drawing.

Rishi: Mumma, I'm going to become a fighter pilot!

Ritika smiled.

Ritika: Is that so?

Rishi: Yes!

Arnav looked at Ritika.

Arnav: He has already decided his future.

Ritika laughed softly.

Ritika: Then he better start studying.

Rishi: I will, Mumma.

He gathered his drawings and sat beside Arnav.

Ritika smiled at the sight of them together.

She still didn't know what had happened the previous day.

She didn't know that Rishi had been questioned and hurt by Safeena's words.

Rishi had asked Arnav not to tell her.

He didn't want his mother to cry again.

And Arnav had promised him that he would respect that.

So Ritika continued smiling, completely unaware of the quiet conversation that had changed something between Arnav and Rishi forever.

Arnav looked at Rishi's drawing once more.

Arnav: Fighter pilot, huh?

Rishi nodded proudly.

Rishi: Yes, Baba.

Arnav smiled.

Arnav: Then I'll be waiting to see you fly, champ.
